Customising the feedback toast: every toast_config option

Updated Oct 6, 2026

The second argument to IteratoService.collect() is an optional toast_config object. Use it to tailor what users see. Unknown keys are ignored safely.

Options

  • tags (array of strings): context labels for the event, such as ["onboarding"]

  • reaction_type (string): "smiley" (default) or "thumb". Invalid values fall back to smiley

  • followup_if_positive (boolean): ask a follow-up after a positive reaction

  • followup_if_neutral (boolean): ask a follow-up after a neutral reaction (smiley only)

  • followup_if_negative (boolean): ask a follow-up after a negative reaction

  • focused_chat (boolean): add or remove the background overlay during the conversation

  • initial_prompt (string): the question shown with the reactions

  • followup_prompt (string): the question shown if the user opts to say more

  • question_count (integer, 2 to 7): total questions to ask. Default 3; 3 or 4 is recommended

  • first_prompt_timeout (milliseconds): how long the first prompt stays visible before it dismisses itself. Default 6000 (6 seconds), maximum 60000 (1 minute)

Full example

IteratoService.collect("live-event-poiu82", {
  tags: ["onboarding", "cta-clicked"],
  reaction_type: "thumb",
  followup_if_positive: false,
  followup_if_negative: true,
  focused_chat: true,
  initial_prompt: "Was this onboarding helpful?",
  followup_prompt: "Would you like to tell us more?",
  question_count: 3,
  first_prompt_timeout: 6000
});
